Project Nursery: A Hip + Edgy Baby Boy Room

Nursery Inspirationcolorful boy nursery

This past weekend, we found out that we are expecting another baby boy, and I am already busy planning his nursery. If you remember this post about Lincoln’s Black and White nursery, then you know that I like to create untraditional rooms that my children can grow into for years. This time around, I am adding in a few pops of color and eclectic furniture to really give the room a unique feel. I can’t start ordering or building the room until our basement renovation is complete (yep – I took on another huge project while pregnant…..), so for now I am gathering ideas and resources (and setting my budget).

I really want to aim for a hip and edgy baby boy room that he can use until at least age 10 (obviously give or take a few years here). I have a lot of black and white around my house so I am making sure to pull those colors into the walls and small details (picture frames, rug, dresser) and then adding pops of color into the artwork. Also, how cute is that periodic table!? My mother-in-law is super into science and she always made sure each of her 5 kids knew the periodic table elements – so I figured I’d give baby #2 a head start since he obviously will have to know it by heart. I still need to add a few shelves, a footstool, curtains (can’t decide on what color) and dresser accessories too – but overall, what do you guys think!? Do you like the idea of creating both a nursery AND a room for growth or are you totally gaga for all things baby? Let me know below. Also – anything I should add or that I am missing? I am planning on changing my son on a changing pad on the floor. I really don’t want to buy another table changing station since we only put Lincoln on it for about 4-5 months so it’s kind of a waste of money in my mind. I can’t wait to start ordering all of this stuff ASAP – I’ll definitely share pictures when his room is complete.
